Step 4: Connect with people. Get the offer.

You’ve built your resume, polished your LinkedIn, and started applying. Now it’s time to level up your job search by making real connections and preparing to shine in interviews.

In this section, you’ll learn how to network with confidence—both online and in person—and how to practice and prepare for interviews so you’re ready when it counts.

We’ll break it into two parts:
Networking: Build genuine connections and expand your opportunities.
Interviewing: Communicate your strengths and get ready to land the offer.

  • When it comes to landing a job, relationships matter. Networking isn’t awkward small talk or forced emails—it’s being curious, kind, and consistent.

    Where to Begin:

    • Grow your LinkedIn network - Connect with classmates, professors, coworkers, mentors, and recruiters
    • Reach out to people in companies you like - Find BYU alumni, recent interns, or team members
    • Post on LinkedIn - Share what you're working on or the role you're seeking; be specific
    • Say yes to real-life moments - Talk to recruiters, follow up after events, and share your job search status with others

💡 Pro Tip: Most opportunities come from “weak ties”—acquaintances, classmates, or friends-of-friends. Every conversation matters, but no one can help if they don’t know you’re looking.

  • Quinncia's AI-powered mock interviews help you practice answering real questions, see how you come across on video, and get feedback on your delivery, tone, and content. That way, you can walk into the real thing confident and prepared.

Faith in Action

Before, during, and after your job search, take quiet moments to ask:

What can I do to draw closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ?
Where would You have me work so I can bless others and develop my talents?

Ponder these questions as you prepare, network, and interview. Seeing your search as part of a larger, purposeful journey can help you recognize the Spirit’s guidance and trust that the Lord is leading you to the right place at the right time.
